MaterialTk

Description:

Material based workflow solution for Mari 3. The material style approach to texture painting is tied closely with shading, and requires integration with a specific shading strategy. This tool set is designed to be as open ended as possible in regards to supporting different shading (rendering engine) options.

Overview:

MaterialTk operates within Mari without a full custom GUI. This is important to remember, as MaterialTk uses some Mari constructs unconventionally. For instance, a Material is stored as a Mari Channel, however this is merely a container for all the aspects of the Material, the layerstack that is visible in the Material Channel is not intended to be viewed directly. When working in a Material workflow, the infrastructure must be defined first, which in Mari is the shader. Before starting to paint using MaterialTk, you must create a shader with which you want to work. Each shader has inputs, such as Diffuse, Specular, etc. When using MaterialTk, you specify the inputs you want your new Material to influence, and those inputs are generated and connected to your shader.
